Question Seven (Evaluaton)
Looking back at the preliminary task I think that there has been a large progression. One of the main things that has improved was the production of the film. I think the prodution was much better because we had better idea of what to do a primarily we was given more freedom. Having more freedom meant that we could be more creative as this was showed in the opening sequence. The premliminary task aslo showed us how to use the equipment and it was he first time that we used iMovie to edit footage. The things that I learnt from that was then applied to the filming of the opening sequence. One thing that also helped out was the longer time period to film it. Having more time meant that we wasn't rushed so we could take our time, also footage that didn't reach a certain quality could be re-shot. For example the last scene that is shown in the opening sequence was shot many times because there was hardly any lighting so we couldn't any pictures on the camera.
Question Six (Evaluation)
An Apple iMac installed with iMovie was used to edit the film. From using this, I learnt that editing is a long a vigourous progress. I found this out because every second counts and you have to make sure that it all comes together smoothly. For example not all of the footage that was filmed was not put in the final cut of the film.
A Canon 550D DLR camera was used to film the opening sequence. From using this camera I learnt that you have to know what you're shooting, the lighting is right and the angle of the shot. Knowing all of these makes the filming much more efficient because you already have what you want in mind (or on paper) so there is less improvisation.
Using a tripod whilst filming has the taught me the difference that it makes. There is virtually no shaking and panning shots are much smoother as it's easier to control with the given handle. The feature of adjusting the height of the tripod was also helpful to help us change the angle of the camera.
This lightswere available for use on set but at the end we decided not to use them. We decided to just use lamps because these where to bright and there wasn't a filter that was the appropriate tone for the film.
Question Five (Evaluation)
The first thing that we did to attract our audience is makeone of the main themes based around social networking. This would of addressed our audience because it's a theme that is relevant to them as the use of social networks is high amongst the 16-24 age group. Another nethod that we used to attract our audience is making the genre of the film a horror, we did this because horror is genre that this age group would be interested in so it might increase the number of people that will view this film.
Question Four (Evaluation)
The audience that would be tartgetted at would be the age group of 16-24 year olds. This film doesn't really have a specific gender that is targetted as the themes that are shown in the film are both relevant to males and females. It is also targetted at people that are interested in the horror genre and are looking to fell some sort of rush whilst watching the film.
Question Three (Evaluation)
The type of media institution that might distribute this product is a major film distributor. This type of distributor would be appropriate because as it's the type of film that needs the sort of financial backing that a large distributo has also. It needs quite a large amount of finance because the actors that would be featured in this film would be using A-listed actors which could attract their own fan base. The unique story line of the film also emphasises that the film will be successful.
Question Two (Evaluation)
One of the main social groups that our media product represents are 16-24 years olds. We've represented this age group by showing how active they are among the use of social networks. This was done to show how time's have changed and the way we communicate with each other has also changed. One of the main things that our media product subverts is the streotypical murderer is usually a white male but it keeps the covention of not knowing their origin and background. We decided to make our murderer a black and we found at that this worked well as there was no difference.
